Police in Ondo State have arrested six men accused of orchestrating a fake miracle scheme designed to deceive unsuspecting residents in Idanre.
The suspects, Fadahunsi, Kolade, Tijani, Iyanuoluwa, Arijesulola, and Ademola, allegedly presented themselves as clerics, staging fabricated miracles and spiritual interventions to win the confidence of members of the public.
According to investigators, the group targeted individuals facing financial hardship, health challenges, and personal difficulties. They reportedly promised divine breakthroughs and spiritual solutions, only to demand money and other benefits under false pretences.
The spokesperson for the state police command, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, said the arrests were the outcome of a carefully coordinated, intelligence-led operation carried out by the Command’s Tactical Teams in partnership with Community Safety Officers.

Abayomi stated, “During interrogation, it was gathered that the suspects operated in a coordinated manner, assigning specific roles to create a convincing façade of legitimacy. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the total number of victims, the financial magnitude of the fraud, and identify other collaborators who may still be at large.”
He confirmed that the suspects remain in custody and will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.
The police have advised residents to remain vigilant, carefully scrutinise religious claims, and avoid making payments in response to suspicious spiritual demands. Members of the public were also encouraged to report questionable activities to the nearest police station.
Reaffirming the Command’s resolve, Abayomi said efforts to combat criminal activity in the state would continue through intelligence gathering, community collaboration, and targeted operations aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
