The Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, has appointed Chiamaka Nnake as Secretary to the State Government (SSG), making her the first woman to hold the position in the state.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime.
Nnake, who is 39 years old, is from Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government Area.

Before her new appointment, she served as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, where she played a key role in mobilising and allocating state resources for socio-economic development.
The statement said, “As Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, she led the effective mobilisation, planning, and allocation of state resources to drive socio-economic development.”
She also served as Chairman of Solution Fun City Limited and held leadership positions in several state agencies. These include the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service Board, and the Anambra Small Business Agency.
Nnake has also been recognised for her work as the state’s Reform Champion for Ease of Doing Business and as the focal person for Social Investment Programmes.
According to the statement, she has continued to promote reforms and initiatives that support inclusive growth.
She currently serves as Nigeria Chairperson for the Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity Programme.
Before joining public service, Nnake worked as a senior strategy consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers Nigeria, where she handled more than 30 client projects across sectors such as financial services, government, and agriculture.
She received the organisation’s CEO Award in 2021 for outstanding performance.
Nnake holds a Master of Business Administration from Lagos Business School and graduated with first-class honours in Accounting from Benson Idahosa University.
She is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of its national advisory committee.
In addition, she has completed Level One of the Chartered Financial Analyst Program and the Implementing Public Policy Programme at the Harvard Kennedy School.
She is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Policy.
Earlier in her career, she worked as a business analyst at IHS Towers and as an equity research analyst at Meristem Securities Limited.
She also contributed to the development of the Anambra Vision 2070 long-term development plan.
Nnake is married and has three children.
Governor Soludo, who previously served as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, was sworn in for a second term in office on March.
