A former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Eze Madumere, has announced his resignation from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Madumere, who served the state during the administration of former governor Rochas Okorocha, said his decision to leave the party takes immediate effect.

In a letter addressed to the APC chairman of Ezinihitte Ward in Mbaitoli Local Government Area, the former deputy governor said he decided to resign after careful and deep personal reflection on his political journey and career.
The letter stated in part, “I write to formally notify you of my decision to resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) effective immediately.”
The letter, dated March 17, also explained that the decision to leave the APC was not easy, although he plans to explore new directions in his political career.
Madumere thanked the ruling party for the opportunities it gave him and said he hopes to maintain a cordial relationship with the party, its members, and its leaders.
“The decision, though difficult, has become necessary after a deep personal reflection on my political journey with the party. I sincerely feel it is time for me to explore new paths.
“It is my utmost desire and expectation that we all continue to maintain the cordial relationship that we have built over the years, in our collective desire to build a better Nigeria,” Madumere said.
Although the former deputy governor did not state which political party he intends to join, he asked the APC to understand his decision as he considers other political platforms.
