Nigerian Afrobeats singer Crayon, born Charles Chibueze Chukwu, has ignited a firestorm in the music industry with a series of explosive posts on X (formerly Twitter) that directly targeted his longtime label, Mavin Records, and its founder, Don Jazzy.

The 28-year-old artist, who first joined Blowtime Entertainment, an imprint under the Mavin umbrella, in May 2019, unleashed his frustrations on Sunday evening, March 15, 2026. In a rapid succession of now-deleted tweets, Crayon mixed sarcasm, anger, and grave accusations that have left fans, industry insiders, and observers reeling.

One post featured a seemingly ironic jab at Don Jazzy, the influential producer and Mavin boss: “Don Jazzy na my boy!!!!!! Una dey maddddd!!?? Shayennnnn sharayyyyyy333.” The pidgin-laced outburst appeared to mock any notion of close camaraderie while escalating tensions.

Crayon reserved sharper criticism for Tega Oghenejobo, Mavin Records’ Chief Operating Officer, bluntly labeling him a “highest criminal!!!!!!!!!” The attacks extended further, with the singer declaring, “Mavin is going down!!!!!!” a bold prediction that has sparked intense speculation about the label’s internal stability and his own future.

Among the most shocking claims, Crayon alleged that the label bore responsibility for the loss of his mother, stating variations such as “my mama died because of una”.

He provided no specific details or evidence to support this deeply personal accusation, leaving many to question the context and emotional weight behind it.

Additional reports from the rant included allegations of unpaid royalties, claims that the label collected massive sums (including references to “$200 million”) without fairly compensating him, and accusations that his shine or spotlight was deliberately redirected—pointing fingers at labelmate Rema with statements like “You stole my star from me”* and vows that Rema would receive no features from him “for the next 100 years.”

The posts quickly went viral before being removed, triggering a wave of reactions across social media. Some fans expressed concern for Crayon’s well-being, citing his recent personal losses, including his mother’s passing, and suggesting possible mental health struggles amid the stress.

Others viewed the outburst as a calculated move following his reported departure from Mavin.

Mavin Records has not issued an official statement addressing the allegations, the personal claims, or the apparent split. Industry figures, including producer Samklef, have weighed in, with some framing the drama as potential “karma” or a recurring pattern in artist-label relationships.
