The All Progressives Congress has reshuffled the leadership of its 2026 National Convention Central Coordination Committee, with former Katsina State governor Aminu Bello Masari now appointed as chairman of the body.
As part of the changes, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who was previously announced as head of the committee, has been reassigned to the position of treasurer.

The ruling party also increased the size of the committee, expanding its membership from 73 to 90 in what it described as an effort to create space for more party stakeholders to be involved in the convention planning process.
Among the newly appointed members are Senator Barry Mpigi and several other notable figures within the APC, strengthening the committee with a broader mix of party chieftains.
The APC explained that the adjustments form part of a revised structure for the 2026 National Convention Central Coordination Committee.

According to the party, the reconstitution was necessary to align with zoning arrangements and address other strategic considerations ahead of the forthcoming national convention.
What you should know
The reconstitution of the APC’s 2026 National Convention Central Coordination Committee signals internal strategic recalibration as the party prepares for a major convention that could shape its future leadership and direction.
By appointing Aminu Bello Masari as chairman and reassigning Hope Uzodimma as treasurer, the party appears to be balancing experience, political influence, and zoning interests.
Expanding the committee’s membership suggests an attempt to promote inclusiveness, manage internal interests, and ensure broader buy-in from key stakeholders ahead of the convention.
