The pupils and teachers who were kidnapped in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom after spending more than 50 days in captivity.

The development was confirmed on Friday by President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on his 𝕏 account.

According to Onanuga, the victims were rescued by security forces.

He wrote, “Finally, the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been freed by their abductors. The kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been rescued by Security Forces.

“One of the rescued teachers in Oyo sends a thank you message to President Tinubu and the security agencies.”

In one of the videos circulating online after their release, the school principal, Mrs. Alamu, expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the security personnel involved in the rescue operation.

She thanked the President and the security operatives for their efforts, saying she was grateful that the abducted pupils and teachers were rescued alive.

She said, “We are grateful, Mr President, sir. We are grateful. We understand your commitment to our safety, and we appreciate all you did for us. We could see it in your heart. Thank you very much.

“And every security operative tried so much and that is why we are still alive now. We are very grateful to you. Thank you very much.

“Thank you, sir. Thank you, sir. God bless you, sir. God bless you, sir. Thank you.”
