The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, bringing an end to weeks of anticipation for thousands of candidates across Nigeria.
The examination body announced the release of the results on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, urging candidates to access their performance through the official WAEC results portal at www.waecdirect.org.
According to WAEC, candidates can conveniently check their results online by providing the required examination details, including their examination number, examination year (2026), examination type, WAEC serial number, and WAEC Personal Identification Number (PIN).
To access the results, candidates are required to visit the WAEC result portal, enter their examination number, select the appropriate examination year and examination type, input their serial number and PIN, and then click the “Submit” button to display their results.
The council also provided a solution for candidates who may have misplaced or lost their result checker details. Such candidates can generate a new WAEC serial number and PIN through the council’s official portal before proceeding to check their results.
To generate new result checker details, candidates are advised to visit www.waec.org, select the “Serial Number and PIN” option on the homepage, choose the appropriate examination year and examination diet, and provide their examination number along with the National Identification Number (NIN) used during registration.
Candidates will also be required to enter a valid email address and phone number to receive a One-Time Password (OTP). After successfully verifying the OTP, the portal will generate a new serial number and PIN, enabling candidates to access their results without difficulty.
In addition, WAEC disclosed that candidates can now download their official WAEC ID Card directly to their mobile devices through the portal, providing easier access to an important examination document.
The release of the 2026 WASSCE results marks a significant milestone for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions and those pursuing other academic and career opportunities, as they can now verify their performance and begin the next phase of their educational journey.
