A media aide to Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, Patrick Spiff, has stepped down from his role as Special Assistant on New Media.

He also declared support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Spiff submitted his resignation letter on 29 May, which was received by the state government on 1 June.

In the letter, he simply stated that he was leaving his position and thanked the government for the chance to serve.

He did not give any reason for his exit.

However, his recent activity on social media has raised questions about his political direction.

Before and after his resignation, he had been posting messages supporting the National Democratic Congress.

His profile picture also shows him wearing a shirt linked to the party.

In some of his posts, he predicted that the NDC would perform strongly in Bayelsa elections, including winning key seats in the Senate and House of Representatives.

He also claimed that the party would defeat rivals in different parts of the state. He made these comments while still working in the state government.

Spiff also shared posts that praised opposition politics and encouraged people to join the NDC, saying things were going well for those in the party.

This has led many to believe that he had already shifted his political loyalty before leaving his government job.
