The Abia State Police Command has declared six men wanted over their alleged involvement in activities linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
The individuals named by the police are Chukwuebuka Ohaechesi, Emma Okonkwo, Jude Uwa, Gentle Okoro, Uchenna Dike and Emmanuel Nwankwo.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Eguavon Omokaro, the police alleged that the six men are members of IPOB and were involved in organising and participating in various protests across Abia State.
According to the police, the demonstrations were linked to calls for the release of Nnamdi Kanu and demands for justice through legal processes.
The command alleged that some of the protests disrupted public order in parts of the state.
The police further stated that investigations conducted by its intelligence department identified the six men as key figures in the planning and coordination of the demonstrations.
The command also claimed that the men and other supporters gather annually on May 30 to observe Biafra remembrance activities.
According to the police, such gatherings are held at different locations in support of the Biafran cause and campaigns for Kanu’s release.
The statement said the police made several attempts to invite the six men for questioning over the allegations against them.
According to the command, the first invitation was issued on December 18, 2025, while a second and third invitation were sent on February 7, 2026, and March 3, 2026, respectively.
The police alleged that none of the individuals responded to the invitations or appeared before investigators.
Following their failure to honour the invitations, the command said the six men have now been officially declared wanted.
The police appealed to residents and members of the public to provide useful information that could help security agencies locate and arrest the suspects.
The command added that anyone who provides credible information would be rewarded.
