The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has announced that former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, will be arraigned on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

In a statement released on Monday, the ICPC said El-Rufai will appear alongside Joel Adoga at the Federal High Court in Kaduna.

The commission explained in the statement, signed by its spokesperson John Okor Odey, that the former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory will face charges related to the conversion and possession of public property and money laundering in a case marked FHC/KD/73/2026.

Another charge with the number KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26 has also been filed against El-Rufai at the Kaduna State High Court. The charges in that case involve allegations of abuse of office, fraud, and intent to commit fraud.

However, the ICPC said the State High Court has not yet announced a date for the arraignment in the second case.

The commission stated that both charges were filed on March 18, 2026, and stressed its commitment to following due process and the rule of law.

Reports indicate that the ICPC is investigating El-Rufai over alleged financial misappropriation during his time as governor of Kaduna State between 2015 and 2023.

He has been in the custody of the ICPC since February 18, 2026.

Shortly before he was taken into ICPC custody, El-Rufai was also questioned by the Department of State Services (DSS) over his claim that the phone of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, was tapped.
