A former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Wukari/Ibi Federal Constituency, Danjuma Usman Shiddi, has resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Shiddi announced his decision in a resignation letter dated March 18, 2026, which was addressed to the chairman of Puje Ward in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.

He explained that his decision was influenced by concerns about the current political climate and how it could affect his political career as well as the interests of his constituents.

According to the former lawmaker, after carefully reviewing his earlier decision to join the party, he concluded that the prevailing political uncertainties might affect both his political ambitions and the welfare of the people he represents in Taraba State.

Shiddi added that remaining in the party no longer aligns with his political direction and long-term plans.

While describing the decision as a difficult one, he acknowledged the strong relationships he built during his time in the party and expressed appreciation for the support he received while he was a member of the ADC.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to serving his community and said he must now pursue a political path that will allow him to represent his constituents more clearly and effectively.

Shiddi requested that his name be removed from the membership register of the African Democratic Congress and wished the party success in its future activities.

Copies of the resignation letter were also sent to the chairman of Wukari Local Government Council, the Taraba State chairman of the ADC, and the Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission in the state.
