Popular Nigerian skit maker Broda Shaggy is currently recovering in a Lagos hospital after allegedly being shot in the thigh while filming a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota Bridge in Ogun State on Sunday afternoon.

The circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, with no eyewitness accounts or CCTV footage publicly released so far. According to a police source, the 32-year-old entertainer was in the middle of a routine skit production with members of his crew when the bullet struck. His team acted swiftly, bundling him into a vehicle and racing him across the state border to Lagos for urgent medical attention.

He was first rushed to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos, where doctors stabilized him and administered first aid. Because of the nature of the injury, he was later referred to the more specialized Duchess Hospital in the Government Residential Area, Ikeja, where he is currently recuperating under close medical supervision.

The Lagos State Police Command only became aware of the case after the hospital itself raised the alarm. Spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the sequence of events: “The hospital reported to the command that a gunshot victim was brought to their facility, and we discovered it was Broda Shaggy when we visited the hospital.” Detectives and a patrol team were immediately dispatched. Officers found the comedian lying on a stretcher with a visible thigh wound.

Broda Shaggy, real name Samuel Animashaun Perry, was born on 18 September 1993 in Ikenne, Ogun State. The son of a late drama teacher, he grew up surrounded by the performing arts and later studied creative arts at the University of Lagos.

His breakout skits, delivered in his trademark deadpan Yoruba-English delivery and street-smart humor, turned him into one of Nigeria’s most recognizable digital stars.

For now, the focus remains on Broda Shaggy’s health. Friends, colleagues, and fans have flooded social media with prayers and messages of support. “Speedy recovery to the king of skits,” one popular entertainer posted. Another simply wrote, “Broda Shaggy, the streets miss your laughter already.”

As of publication time, no arrests have been made, and no motive has been established.
