Diddy’s Prison Release Date Moved Forward

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is set for an earlier release from federal prison, with his projected release date now brought forward by over a month while he appeals his conviction on serious charges.

The 56-year-old music mogul, whose empire once spanned records, fashion, and spirits, had his projected release shifted from June 4, 2028, to April 25, 2028, according to updated records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

This adjustment follows Combs’ successful enrollment in a drug rehabilitation program last November, which has qualified him for a reduced sentence under federal guidelines aimed at incentivizing inmate rehabilitation.

Combs, currently incarcerated at the low-security Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey, was sentenced to four years in prison in late 2025 after a high-profile trial that captivated the entertainment world.

He was convicted on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, stemming from allegations that he orchestrated a criminal enterprise involving coercion, abuse, and exploitation over decades. Prosecutors painted a picture of a powerful industry titan who abused his influence, while Combs’ defense team maintained his innocence, decrying the case as a witch hunt fueled by civil lawsuits and media sensationalism.

The early release comes as Combs’ legal team ramps up efforts to appeal the conviction, arguing procedural errors and insufficient evidence. Sources close to the case indicate that the appeal process could drag on for years, potentially overlapping with his time behind bars.

Despite the ongoing battle, this latest development offers a glimmer of hope for the Bad Boy Entertainment founder, who has reportedly focused on self-improvement during his incarceration.

This isn’t the first fluctuation in Combs’ release timeline. Initially set for May 8, 2028, the date was pushed back to June 4 following a series of reported infractions early in his sentence.

The mogul’s legal woes trace back to a cascade of lawsuits and federal investigations that erupted in 2023, including accusations from former associates, ex-partners, and alleged victims.

His arrest in September 2024 marked the beginning of a downward spiral, culminating in a conviction that stripped him of much of his business holdings and public standing. Once a fixture at star-studded events and a symbol of Black entrepreneurship, Combs now faces a tarnished legacy, with ongoing civil suits seeking millions in damages.

As news of his new release date spreads, reactions in the industry are mixed. Supporters view it as a step toward redemption, while critics argue it highlights disparities in the justice system, where high-profile inmates can access programs that expedite freedom. Federal guidelines allow for such reductions if inmates demonstrate good behavior and complete qualifying courses, but Combs’ case has reignited debates over accountability for powerful figures accused of sexual misconduct.

With his appeal pending, Combs’ team remains tight-lipped on post-release plans, though insiders suggest a low-key return to family life and perhaps a memoir or documentary to reclaim his narrative.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Sean “Diddy” Combs will now walk free from federal prison on April 25, 2028—more than a month earlier than his original June 4, 2028, release date.
