A former deputy governor of Oyo State, Moses Adeyemo, has emerged as the new chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Adeyemo was formally announced as chairman during the party’s state congress held at Liberty Stadium in Ibadan.
In a statement issued by the party’s publicity secretary, Olawale Sadare, the outcome followed extensive consultations among party stakeholders across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State.
Adeyemo, a native of Igboho in Oorelope Local Government Area, previously served as deputy governor under the late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi, between 2011 and 2019.
Providing further details, former National Youth Leader and secretary of the party’s ad hoc zoning committee, Hon Azeez Repete, stated that the congress was conducted peacefully. He explained that Adeyemo emerged through a consensus arrangement supervised by a congress committee constituted by the party’s national leadership in Abuja.

Repete disclosed that an ad hoc zoning committee had been set up to distribute positions within the State Executive Committee among the various local government chapters. The committee was chaired by Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, with Repete serving as secretary, alongside other members drawn from different parts of the state.
The APC national leadership had earlier scheduled March 3 for state congresses nationwide as part of preparations for the party’s National Convention slated for March 27 and 28. This followed the completion of ward congresses on February 28 and local government congresses, including the election of three delegates per local government for the National Convention on February 21.
According to the Adjusted APC 2026 Schedule of Nationwide Congresses, National Convention and Related Activities, signed by the party’s National Organizing Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, appeals arising from the congresses are to be heard on Wednesday, March 4.
The purchase and submission of forms for the Zonal Congresses and the National Convention are scheduled to take place between Thursday, March 13, and Monday, March 16. The party also fixed Monday, March 23, for the inauguration of Zonal Congresses Screening and Appeal Committees, as well as National Convention Screening and Appeal Committees.
