Nigerian singer Ayra Starr recently shared an unexpected piece of her past on the popular podcast I Said What I Said, revealing that she used to be an online troll before fame changed her life. In a refreshingly candid discussion, the ‘Rush’ crooner admitted that there was a time when she managed a troll page and even ran a Nicki Minaj fan page, all in the spirit of stirring up a bit of mischief online.
“Sometimes I want to be a troll on the internet, probably with a fake page so that when people insult me, I won’t feel bad because I do the same,” Ayra Starr said with a laugh, clearly enjoying the memory and the reaction it sparked among the hosts.
She went on to explain that trolling was part of her pre-fame persona. “I did have a troll page before I became Ayra Starr. I had a Nicki Minaj fan page too, I used to be a troll, so I feel like I’ve been there, done that, but I feel like it’d fit me small. I respect it so much, I think I could use my own Ayra Starr page. Trolling would be so fun,” she revealed, hinting at the playful side of her past that many might not expect from a rising star.
Ayra Starr also joked about her sharp tongue, noting that her siblings are well aware of her quick wit and fiery responses. “My siblings know my mouth is not good. Don’t get me there. If you take me there, we go there. My mouth is not good,” she asserted, adding a touch of humor to her personal confession.
Her openness about her early online antics not only makes her human but also serves as a reminder that before the glamour and success, she was just like many of us learning, growing, and sometimes, stirring up a little harmless trouble online.
