Bruno Mars Joins Elite Streaming Club, Matching Ed Sheeran’s Historic Milestone

In a testament to his enduring appeal and cross-generational popularity, Bruno Mars has achieved a rare distinction in the streaming era, becoming only the second artist to amass four individual songs with more than 3 billion streams each on Spotify.

The accomplishment puts him in a tie with British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran at the pinnacle of the platform’s most-streamed artists.

The quartet of Mars hits that have crossed the 3-billion threshold represents a career spanning over a decade and showcases the Hawaiian-born performer’s versatility across romantic ballads and upbeat funk-pop anthems.

Leading the pack is “Die With A Smile,” Mars’s collaboration with Lady Gaga, which has accumulated an impressive 3.38 billion streams since its release. The emotional duet has resonated deeply with listeners worldwide, becoming one of the most successful collaborative efforts in recent streaming history.

Mars’s 2010 breakthrough single “Just the Way You Are” follows closely with 3.10 billion streams. The tender love song, which topped charts globally and earned Grammy recognition, proved to be the launchpad for what would become one of pop music’s most consistent careers.

“Locked Out of Heaven,” the funk-infused track that dominated airwaves in 2012, has reached 3.03 billion streams. The song’s infectious rhythm and retro-influenced production demonstrated Mars’s ability to blend contemporary pop with classic influences.

Rounding out the achievement is “That’s What I Like,” from Mars’s 2016 album “24K Magic,” which has garnered just over 3 billion streams at 3.00 billion plays. The smooth R&B track earned multiple Grammy Awards and solidified Mars’s reputation as a hitmaker capable of sustained commercial success.

This milestone underscores the remarkable staying power of Mars’s catalog in an era where streaming has fundamentally transformed how success is measured in the music industry. While many contemporary artists struggle to maintain relevance beyond their initial breakthrough, Mars has demonstrated an ability to produce hits that continue attracting new listeners years after their original release.

The achievement also highlights the competitive nature of streaming dominance, where only a handful of artists have managed to connect with audiences on this scale multiple times over.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Bruno Mars has become only the second artist ever to achieve four songs with over 3 billion Spotify streams each, tying Ed Sheeran for this exclusive record. What sets Mars apart is the longevity of his success—his four billion-stream hits span from 2010’s “Just the Way You Are” to his recent collaboration “Die With A Smile” with Lady Gaga, proving he’s maintained hitmaking power across more than a decade.

In today’s rapidly changing music landscape, Mars’s ability to create songs that continue attracting listeners years after release is the real story here.
