Nigerian Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has secured a coveted spot in the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2026 lineup, marking another milestone for African music on the global stage.

The Grammy-nominated artist, behind hits like “With Me,” will perform across both weekends of the festival on April 11 and 18, 2026, at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. Davido stands as the sole Nigerian representative in this year’s lineup, a distinction that underscores his rising international profile in the competitive world music landscape.

The 2026 festival will be headlined by pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter, global superstar Justin Bieber, and Latin music powerhouse Karol G, reflecting Coachella’s continued commitment to diverse musical genres and cross-cultural representation. The supporting lineup reads like a who’s who of contemporary music, featuring recently released rapper Young Thug, electronic music collective Major Lazer, hip-hop artist Swae Lee, soul singer Teddy Swims, R&B crooner Giveon, and British rapper Central Cee.

Davido’s inclusion continues a proud tradition of Nigerian musical excellence at Coachella. The festival has previously showcased the talents of Afrobeats pioneers and contemporary stars, including Seun Kuti, Grammy winner Burna Boy, Mr. Eazi, rising star Tems, veteran Wizkid, and hitmaker CKay. This consistent Nigerian presence at one of the world’s most influential music festivals speaks to the genre’s undeniable global appeal and commercial viability.

The announcement comes at a particularly significant moment for Afrobeats, as the genre continues its meteoric rise in international markets. Streaming platforms report exponential growth in Afrobeats consumption worldwide, while major record labels increasingly invest in African talent and cross-continental collaborations.

For Davido, whose real name reflects his roots as the son of Nigerian business magnate Adedeji Adeleke, this Coachella debut represents the culmination of years of building his international brand. The artist has consistently broken barriers, from sold-out shows at major venues worldwide to high-profile collaborations with American and European artists.

Industry observers note that Coachella’s selection process is notoriously competitive, with thousands of artists vying for limited spots. The festival’s endorsement often serves as a career catalyst, introducing acts to massive new audiences and cementing their credentials in the global music industry.

The 2026 festival promises to be a watershed moment, not just for Davido but for the continued internationalization of African music. As festival-goers from around the world converge on the California desert, they’ll witness firsthand the infectious energy and innovative sounds that have made Afrobeats one of the most exciting musical movements of the 21st century.

Tickets for Coachella 2026 are expected to go on sale in early 2025, with music fans already expressing excitement about experiencing Davido’s signature blend of traditional African rhythms, contemporary pop sensibilities, and electrifying stage presence in the iconic desert setting.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Davido has become the only Nigerian artist selected for Coachella 2026, joining headliners Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G for performances on April 11 and 18.

This milestone continues Nigeria’s strong Coachella presence, following previous appearances by Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tems, and other Afrobeats stars, further cementing the genre’s global dominance and commercial appeal on one of the world’s most influential music festival stages.

Coachella is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, in the Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. It was co-founded by Paul Tollett and Rick Van Santen in 1999.
