Award-winning Nigerian music artist Kizz Daniel has revealed that he recently suffered a devastating loss in his music career—over 600 unreleased songs vanished after his work station crashed.

The “Woju” crooner made the revelation via a candid post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, shocking fans and fellow artists alike with the staggering volume of material lost.

To put the scale of the loss in context, 600 songs could amount to 60 full-length albums—enough to sustain several years of consistent music releases. For an artist of Kizz Daniel’s calibre, known for his polished, relatable lyrics and hit-making consistency, such a loss is not just technical—it is deeply personal and emotional.

Despite the setback, the resilient artist is not dwelling in despair. In a follow-up post, Kizz Daniel announced that he is working with technicians in a desperate attempt to recover the lost files. However, he added that, regardless of the outcome, he remains committed to delivering music for his fans.

Staying true to his word, Kizz Daniel recently dropped his highly anticipated project, Unkle K (Lemon Chase)—a 7-track collection that is already resonating with audiences across age groups.

The project features dynamic collaborations with industry heavyweights including Bella Shmurda, OdumoduBlvck, Runtown, and emerging talent Fola. The body of work reflects his signature style—music built on storytelling, simplicity, and emotionally resonant lyrics.

In line with his recent posts, Kizz Daniel emphasized that relatability remains the cornerstone of his creative process. Whether Afrobeat, Afro-pop, or alternative fusions, the singer insists that his goal is always to speak directly to the experiences of everyday people. “That’s the most essential ingredient,” he wrote, reinforcing the idea that his musical blueprint is built around listener connection, not just catchy beats.

This focus on emotional resonance and simplicity is precisely what has fueled his rise since 2014, when he burst onto the scene with the instantly infectious ‘Woju’. Since then, Kizz Daniel has cemented his place among Nigeria’s elite musicians.

His ability to craft music that cuts across generations and social strata is evident in records like ‘Buga’, ‘Lie’, and more recently, ‘Twe Twe’—a chart-topping collaboration that was named the No. 1 Song of 2024 by the TurnTable Chart.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

While the loss of 600 songs is undoubtedly a creative and emotional blow, Kizz Daniel’s response reveals the heart of a true artist—resilient, adaptive, and ever-focused on the music. As Unkle K (Lemon Chase) continues to make waves, fans can rest assured that Kizz Daniel isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Even in the face of loss, he chooses to create.
