2027: Lagos APC Announces Deputy Governorship Candidate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has selected Princess Damilola Sonayon-James as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Lagos State.

She is expected to run alongside the party’s governorship candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, as the ruling party begins preparations for the next governorship election in the state. (Naija News)

Sonayon-James, who is from Badagry, is widely known within the APC for her grassroots political activities and her support for greater participation of women in leadership and public service. (Naija News)

She currently serves as the Deputy State Chairman of the APC in Lagos. Before taking up the position, she worked as the party’s State Assistant Woman Leader and played active roles in several party activities across the state. (Naija News)

Her political experience also extends to the local government level. She previously served as Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture and Social Services in the Badagry West Local Council Development Area, where she was involved in community development programmes. (Naija News)

Apart from politics, Sonayon-James has built a career in business and sustainability management. She has worked in human resources, logistics and corporate sustainability. She is also the Chief Executive Officer of DGS Chauffeurs and Logistics. (Naija News)

Academically, she holds a Master’s degree in Social Work from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology and a degree in Business and Human Resources Management from the University of Hull. (Naija News)

An official announcement of her nomination by the APC is expected in the coming days. (Naija News)
