At least 19 additional Nigerians have been included on a United States government list of foreign nationals slated for deportation due to criminal convictions.
Information obtained on Sunday from the website of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security indicates that the latest update brings the total number of Nigerians scheduled for removal to 113.
The newly added individuals were convicted of various offences, including sexual assault involving a minor, fraud, assault, drug trafficking and money laundering.
According to details published on the agency’s platform, the individuals were apprehended by officials of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and will be repatriated to Nigeria after completing the required immigration procedures.
The department described those listed as foreign nationals with criminal records who were taken into custody as part of ongoing enforcement operations.
It further stated that the deportation actions align with directives under President Donald Trump, noting that priority is being given to non-citizens convicted of serious crimes.
Among the Nigerians recently added to the list are Adeolu Solabu, Oladayo Agboola, Chinonso Ochie, Oluchi Jennifer Chimdimma Chime, Samuel Omorodion, Sunday Adediora, Sunday Kunkushi and Mkpouto Etukudoh.
Others named include Marcus Unigwe, Kehinde James, Blessing Uchanma, Victor Adebisi, Richard Ugbah, Olaniyi Ojikutu, Oluwamuyiwa Olawoye, Okechukwu Amadi, Femi Jolayemi, Anthony Asanya, Izuchukwu Okoye and Ebele Agbasiele.
The move is part of a wider crackdown by U.S. authorities targeting undocumented migrants and foreign nationals with criminal convictions.
Initially, 79 convicted Nigerians were listed for deportation following their arrest by immigration officers. However, within three weeks, the number rose to 113 after the latest additions were made.
