Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has dissolved the State Executive Council as part of efforts to reorganise his administration and improve service delivery in the state.

The decision was announced as the governor moves to reposition his government and strengthen the state’s civil service system.

Following the dissolution, Governor Fubara approved the promotion of five senior officers to the rank of Permanent Secretaries in the Rivers State Civil Service.

According to an official government statement, the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are:

Dr. Wachukwu, Vincent Worgu
Eke, Cordelia Uwuma
Ogboma, Ifeanyi Anthony
Dr. Jim-Jaja, Mina Gogo
Uzor, Henry

The statement explained that the appointments were made to enhance efficiency and ensure better coordination in government operations.

The governor is expected to swear in the new Permanent Secretaries on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

Government officials said the move is aimed at strengthening the administrative structure of the state while plans are underway to constitute a new cabinet.

Observers believe the dissolution of the State Executive Council and the appointment of new Permanent Secretaries are part of Governor Fubara’s strategy to improve governance and ensure effective service delivery across Rivers State.

The development comes at a time when the state government is making efforts to restructure its operations and prepare for the next phase of governance under the current administration.
