Big Brother Naija star Segun “Sheggz” Olusemo has put months of online speculation to rest, confirming in a lengthy statement that his relationship with fellow reality TV personality Bella Okagbue ended in January 2026.
The pair, who met during the “Level Up” season of Big Brother Naija in 2022 and developed a romantic connection inside the house, became one of the show’s most closely watched real-life relationships, with fans following their journey from the villa to red carpets and brand campaigns long after the cameras stopped rolling.
But cracks in that fairytale had been showing for a while. As far back as late 2025, unverified claims began circulating online, including one widely shared post alleging the couple had privately separated over strain tied to a pregnancy that ended before term, after Sheggz reportedly said he wasn’t ready for marriage. Sheggz denied a breakup at the time, insisting the relationship was intact.
The rumours resurfaced with new intensity in May 2026, when eagle-eyed fans noticed that Sheggz and Bella had unfollowed each other on Instagram, reigniting speculation across social media.
Reports also linked Sheggz to another reality TV personality, though those claims were never confirmed by anyone involved. Through it all, Sheggz responded only in oblique terms at one point, posting cryptically about loyalty and discipline without directly addressing his relationship status.
Now, he has chosen to speak plainly. In his statement, Sheggz explained that he had held back publicly out of consideration for his family but felt compelled to set the record straight after what he characterized as efforts to damage his reputation. Central to his account is a firm denial of infidelity: he maintains he did not cheat on Bella and says he has been single since January.
The reality star also gave a rare, personal glimpse into a turbulent 2025, a year he said was dominated by repeated hospital stays before he returned to Nigeria in October following treatment abroad in England.
It was during this period, he indicated, that information came to light that shook his trust in the relationship, and he says he gave Bella multiple opportunities dating back to 2024 to be forthcoming with him.
According to Sheggz, the relationship formally ended in January 2026, though the two later attempted reconciliation. Ultimately, he said, unresolved questions of trust and respect convinced him the relationship wasn’t one he could build a marriage on a poignant detail given his disclosure that he had already bought an engagement ring, believing at the time in a shared future with Bella.
Despite the painful unraveling, Sheggz struck a conciliatory note in closing, stating he had no interest in a public feud and wished Bella well as they each move forward separately.
Bella Okagbue has not issued a public response to Sheggz’s statement as of this report.
