The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed a significant disruption in electricity supply to Lagos due to a fault on its Omotoso-Ikeja West 330kV transmission line.

In a statement on Tuesday, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, reported that the transmission line snapped between towers 420 and 422 on March 9, leading to a reduction of approximately 350 megawatts (MW) in bulk electricity supply to the state.

The outage affected both Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC).

Mbah revealed that its engineers have been dispatched to the site and are working to repair the damaged sections of the high-voltage transmission line.

It added that materials necessary for the restoration have also been mobilised, and the repair process is expected to be completed within three days.

“We apologise for the inconvenience this situation has caused the government, electricity consumers in Lagos, and the Eko and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Companies”, the statement added.

TCN assured the public that once the repairs are completed, full bulk power supply will be restored to the Lagos area.

“The company is working diligently to restore normalcy to the affected areas as quickly as possible”, the company stated.
