The Edo State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped victims following intensified security operations across affected communities in Edo State.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, directed increased security deployment and intelligence-led policing in response to rising kidnapping incidents around the Izakagbo/Iwu axis.
According to the Command, operatives carried out a coordinated ambush operation on April 5, 2026, at Iyera, along the pipeline route after Ovia River, where suspected kidnappers were intercepted.
The operation led to a gun duel, during which two victims, Musibau Kehinde Tracy (24) and Edewor John (39), were successfully rescued without injuries.

Police confirmed that the victims are currently in safe custody and receiving necessary care, while their families have been notified. Efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
The Command reassured residents of Izakagbo/Iwu and nearby communities of its commitment to protecting lives and property, emphasizing that operations will continue until all criminal elements are brought to justice.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and credible information.
