The suspended Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, Adamu Bako, has resigned his membership of the party.
Bako made this known in a letter dated April 15, 2026, which he addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Agyaga, Akwanga LGA, Nasarawa State.
In the letter, he described his resignation as a painful but necessary decision.
He said the move was taken for the sake of peace, his personal safety, and the need to join a political platform that matches his leadership beliefs.
Bako explained that his decision would allow him to continue his political journey with his supporters and mentees.
According to him, the new direction will provide a structure that better fits his vision and future plans.
Despite leaving the party, he said he had remained loyal to the PDP for many years and once held it in high regard.
He described the party as one he valued and defended until the end of his membership.
His resignation comes shortly after he was suspended by the party over allegations of gross misconduct and anti-party activities.
The development is seen as another sign of the ongoing internal crisis within the PDP in Nasarawa State.
