Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has sworn in two new commissioners and approved a cabinet reshuffle as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery across the state.

The newly appointed commissioners are Professor Omari Omaka (SAN), who will head the Ministry of Tertiary Education, and Hon. Sylvester Nwite, who was appointed Commissioner for Environment.

Governor Nwifuru also redeployed several commissioners to different ministries in the cabinet reshuffle.

The Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr. Ikeuwa Omebe, announced the changes while briefing journalists after the State Executive Council meeting.

According to Omebe, the reshuffle followed the swearing-in of Professor Omaka and Njoku Onyekachi Felix, who was inaugurated as Special Assistant to the Governor before being assigned as Special Assistant on Youth Mobilisation.

Under the new arrangement, Hon. Chidi Onyia was moved from the Ministry of Solid Mineral Development to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

Mrs. Dr. Ngozi Obichukwu was redeployed from the Ministry of Aviation to the Ministry of Special Projects, while Professor Adjokango was transferred from the Ministry of Market Development to the Ministry of Skill Acquisition. Hon. Oko Udo will now head the Ministry of Market Development.

Hon. Chinedu Nkah was also moved from the Ministry of Water Resources to the Ministry of Solid Mineral Development, while Hon. Richard Idike was redeployed from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to the Ministry of Capital City and Urban Development.

In addition, Hon. Sunday Elechi Inyima was transferred from the Ministry of Capital City and Urban Development to the Ministry of Project Monitoring, while Hon. Victor Chukwu Uzoma moved from the Ministry of Environment to the Ministry of Water Resources.

Omebe said Governor Nwifuru directed that all handover processes should take immediate effect and be completed before the close of work on June 30, 2026.

The governor urged the newly appointed officials to justify the confidence reposed in them by building on the achievements of his administration under the People’s Charter of Needs agenda.

Nwifuru also congratulated members of the State Executive Council on the successful endorsement rally held on June 15, 2026, in support of President Bola Tinubu, and commended the media for giving the event wide publicity.

He further urged all cabinet members, whether affected by the reshuffle or not, to remain committed to effective service delivery and the continued development of Ebonyi State.
