The Federal Government has announced plans to discontinue its Visa-on-Arrival policy, stating that “it is not working.” Instead, prospective visitors will be required to pre-fill landing and exit cards before entering the country.
Introduced in 2020 as a class of short-stay visa issued at the port of entry, the Visa-on-Arrival policy was designed to accommodate frequently traveled high net worth investors and other visitors who could not secure visas due to the absence of Nigerian missions or embassies in their countries of residence.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo, during his tenure in 2023, mentioned that future issuance of the Visa-on-Arrival would be based on reciprocity.
