Harry Kane’s stoppage-time heroics salvaged a point for Bayern Munich in a pulsating 2-2 draw at Union Berlin, halting the club’s record-breaking run of victories in the Bundesliga but keeping their unbeaten streak intact.
The English forward’s dramatic 93rd-minute header, his 13th goal in just 10 league appearances this season, ensured that Bayern avoided a first defeat, despite Union’s spirited performance.

Union Berlin looked set to claim an improbable win, having come from behind twice. Danilho Doekhi opened the scoring, and after Bayern’s Luis Diaz produced a sensational solo goal to level matters, Doekhi struck again to restore Union’s advantage in the 83rd minute. Kane’s late intervention, powered in from a corner delivered by Bruno Fernandes, left Union goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario helpless and extended Bayern’s unbeaten run to 17 matches across all competitions.
Bayern’s previous perfect run included 16 consecutive victories, a record across Europe’s top-five leagues. However, fatigue appeared to catch up with Julian Nagelsmann’s side after their midweek 2-1 win against Paris Saint-Germain, during which they had played much of the match with ten men. Kompany’s minimal rotation in the starting lineup on Saturday seemed to reflect this exhaustion, as Bayern struggled to create meaningful chances in the first half.
Union Berlin, meanwhile, had an early goal disallowed for a tight offside call but took the lead in the 27th minute when Doekhi slotted the ball past Manuel Neuer from close range. Bayern’s response came late in the first half when Diaz conjured an improbable goal, controlling a tricky ball and firing from a tight angle past the goalkeeper, restoring parity. The drama continued late in the match when Doekhi’s second goal, a rebound poked into the corner, appeared to have secured a historic victory for the home side.

Despite Union’s hopes of a maiden league win against Bayern at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei, Kane’s late intervention ensured Bayern took a point, much to the disappointment of the home supporters. The Brazilian striker Richarlison had earlier given Union the lead in stoppage time, curling a header from Wilson Odobert’s cross, prompting an emotional celebration. Kane’s decisive header, however, stole the moment for Bayern, emphasizing the resilience of the defending champions.
Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund were held to a 1-1 draw against Hamburg after conceding a last-gasp goal. Carney Chukwuemeka had given Dortmund the lead in the second half, only for Ransford-Yeboah Koenigsdoerffer to equalise in the seventh minute of added time. This late blow prevented Dortmund from climbing to second place and closing the gap on leaders Bayern Munich.

RB Leipzig also struggled, suffering a 3-1 defeat at Hoffenheim. Teenage forward Yan Diomande gave Leipzig an early lead in the ninth minute, scoring his third consecutive goal. Hoffenheim responded in quick succession, with Albian Hajdari equalising and Tim Lemperle heading in the second before halftime. Grischa Proemel sealed the result in the 79th minute, leaving Leipzig to rue lost points in their chase of the top spots.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen secured a dominant 6-0 home win over Heidenheim, marking their biggest victory of the campaign so far. Patrik Schick and Ibrahim Maza both scored braces, while Jonas Hofmann and Ernest Poko also contributed, propelling Leverkusen to fourth in the standings. Borussia Mönchengladbach were scheduled to host city rivals Cologne later on Saturday.
