Harry Kane and Luis Diaz were on target as Bayern Munich secured a 2-1 victory over Stuttgart on Saturday, lifting the German Super Cup for a record 10th time.
The match, played in honor of football legend Franz Beckenbauer, who passed away in 2024, marked the official opener of the German football season, featuring the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal winners.

Kane struck first in the 18th minute after linking up with Michael Olise, expertly finishing into the bottom corner for his 86th goal in just 97 Bayern appearances. Despite Stuttgart’s pressure, Bayern doubled their lead in the 77th minute when Diaz converted a close-range header from Serge Gnabry’s cross. The Colombian forward celebrated with a tribute to his late former Liverpool teammate, Diogo Jota.

Stuttgart clawed one back in stoppage time through Jamie Leweling, but Bayern held firm to seal the win and claim the Super Cup title.
The victory handed Kane just his second team trophy, following Bayern’s Bundesliga triumph last season. The game also came amid speculation surrounding Stuttgart’s Germany striker Nick Woltemade, though the club has reportedly rejected multiple Bayern bids.

Bayern will now turn their focus to the Bundesliga opener against RB Leipzig on Friday, while Stuttgart will take on Union Berlin a day later.
