The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the release of results for candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) resit.

According to a statement by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the results followed a detailed review by the Board’s Chief External Examiners (CEEs) after the resit exams were conducted. Of the 336,845 candidates rescheduled for the test, 21,082 were reported absent.

JAMB also disclosed the release of previously withheld results for under-age candidates—except in cases involving legal disputes—as well as those who were initially penalized for underperformance or involvement in online misconduct such as “WhatsApp Runs.”

A sub-committee led by Prof. Olufemi Peters, Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University and CEE for the FCT, was tasked with reviewing and confirming the validity of the results. The CEEs also invited psychometrics expert Prof. Boniface Nworgu to endorse the outcomes before the public release.

While JAMB emphasized that the release of results for candidates involved in misconduct does not legitimize their actions, the Board described the decision as a “once and for all waiver,” cautioning candidates to steer clear of dubious online platforms.

The Board also clarified that under-age candidates, who had previously acknowledged during registration that admission would depend on meeting prescribed standards, remain ineligible despite the release of their scores.

“All results are now released except for those involving examination infractions and candidates scheduled for mop-up exams,” JAMB noted. It added that results of some candidates previously released were later withdrawn based on security investigations.

Affected individuals are being notified directly via SMS, email, and their JAMB profiles. The Board also dispelled rumours that it profits from the shortcode services (55019/66019) used to check results, stating the system is designed to protect candidate data and curb exploitation by cybercafés.

What you should know
JAMB has released the results of the 2025 UTME resit exam, including previously withheld scores of under-age candidates and those involved in minor misconducts.

However, affected candidates who do not meet the required standards remain ineligible for admission, and those involved in serious infractions still face result withdrawal or mop-up exams.
