The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has officially announced the commencement of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) change of institution and course process for candidates seeking to adjust their admission preferences.

The update was disclosed in a statement issued by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, who confirmed that candidates can now visit accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide to carry out the necessary changes.

According to the Board, candidates who wish to switch their preferred institution or change their chosen course of study are expected to complete the process only through approved CBT centres across the country.

JAMB also announced that the printing of the original 2026 UTME result slip will officially begin on Monday, May 18, 2026.

The examination body advised candidates to avoid using unauthorized centres or third-party agents for the process, stressing that all modifications must be done through accredited CBT centres to prevent errors that could affect admission consideration.

The latest announcement comes as thousands of candidates continue to assess their admission prospects following the release of the 2026 UTME results, with many expected to adjust their choices based on performance and institutional cut-off expectations.

The change of institution and course process is a crucial opportunity for candidates to improve their admission chances by selecting institutions and courses that align more realistically with their scores and available admission requirements.

What You Should Know

The opening of JAMB’s change of institution and course portal gives 2026 UTME candidates a strategic opportunity to reassess their admission plans.

Candidates who may not meet their initial institution’s cut-off mark can switch to schools or courses with better admission prospects. Printing the original result slip is also an important requirement for many admission processes, including screening and post-UTME applications.

Candidates are strongly advised to act early, verify institutional requirements carefully, and use only accredited CBT centres to avoid mistakes that could delay or affect their admission chances.
