Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has been thrown into mourning following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma, who passed away on Friday, March 27.
The sad development was confirmed in a statement released by the El-Rufai family on the same day.
According to family sources, the late matriarch had been battling age-related health challenges for some time, with her condition said to have deteriorated in recent weeks.
Sources further disclosed that her health reportedly declined after she became aware of her son’s alleged detention by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission.

It was also gathered that El-Rufai had been actively involved in overseeing his mother’s care prior to her passing.
In the family’s statement, prayers were offered for Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljannatul Firdaus.
Her death comes barely a week after another loss in the family, following the passing of El-Rufai’s sister-in-law on March 20.
