Donald Trump is set to become the first sitting U.S. president to attend the Super Bowl this weekend. The highly anticipated game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will take place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday.

The city is still recovering from a tragic terror attack on New Year’s Day that claimed 14 lives on Bourbon Street. Trump’s presence at the event marks a historic moment, as no sitting U.S. president has ever attended the Super Bowl. While past presidents like Ronald Reagan have participated in pre-game ceremonies remotely, Trump’s attendance will be unprecedented.

The Secret Service has ramped up security measures in preparation for the president’s visit. “Security measures have been further enhanced this year, given that this will be the first time a sitting president of the United States will attend the event,” said Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

Earlier this week, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem emphasized the significance of the event, calling the Super Bowl “the biggest homeland security event that we do every year.”
