Nigerian Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly accused his longtime logistics manager, Israel DMW, of leaking one of his unreleased songs online before its official release, a fresh controversy that has reignited speculation of a rift between the two men.
The 32-year-old musician made the allegation during what appears to have been a livestream conversation with streamer Davrel, in a clip that has since gone viral across Nigerian social media. The track in question has been identified in subsequent reports as “Flex My Soul.”
According to the singer, the decision to pull the song from his upcoming album wasn’t a creative one; it was a direct response to what he described as repeated betrayals of trust by Israel, who has worked as his aide for years and is a well-known figure in Davido’s “30BG” entourage.
Recounting the episode, Davido explained that he confronted Israel after an initial leak, and Israel promised he would never play the song publicly again, only for another video to surface just two days later showing Israel dancing with a towel while vibing to the same unreleased track. Visibly irritated in the clip, Davido said Israel had “spoiled” the song by overplaying it despite the warning.
This isn’t the first time Israel DMW has found himself at the center of a leak controversy involving his boss. Similar incidents involving unreleased Davido material surfacing online through Israel have circulated in entertainment media in the past, suggesting a recurring friction point between the star and his aide over how closely guarded his unfinished work should be.
The timing of the latest allegation has added fuel to ongoing rumors that all is not well between Davido and Israel. Social media users have pointed to recent posts and interactions, including a widely shared claim that Davido had unfollowed Israel on social media, as further evidence of tension, though neither party has issued a formal statement confirming a falling-out.
Notably, Davido has in the past publicly described Israel as one of his closest friends, which has led some fans to interpret the current spat as typical friction between a boss and a famously overexuberant aide rather than a genuine rupture. Others, however, see it as the latest sign of deeper strain in their working relationship.
Neither Davido nor Israel DMW has commented further publicly beyond the viral clip as of this report. The story continues to develop, with Nigerian entertainment outlets and fans closely watching for any official word from either camp or for the possibility that the “spoiled” track eventually finds its way onto a future release.
