Nigeria and Bay FC striker Asisat Oshoala has officially signed a two-year contract with Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal in the Women’s Premier League.
The deal was confirmed on Monday after the 30-year-old completed her medical in Riyadh, according to ESPN. Oshoala, who was absent from Bay FC’s squad against Angel City, was marked as “excused” on the availability report.
Her switch to Saudi Arabia concludes a brief stint in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), where she played for expansion side Bay FC last season.
Al Hilal announced the move on Instagram with the words: “Welcome, Asisat Oshoala.”
A two-time Ballon d’Or nominee, Oshoala arrives with an impressive record. During her five seasons at Barcelona, she netted 107 goals in 149 matches, winning five Liga F titles and two UEFA Women’s Champions League trophies. Her career has also taken her to Arsenal, Liverpool, Chinese side Dalian Quanjian, and earlier spells with Nigerian clubs Robo and Rivers Angels.
In Saudi Arabia, she will reunite with fellow Super Falcons stars Ashleigh Plumptre and Francisca Ordega. Al Hilal, who finished sixth last season, compete in a league recently expanded from eight to 10 teams.
