Arise News has released the burial arrangements for its late news anchor, correspondent, and producer, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, who was tragically killed during an armed robbery at her Abuja residence on September 29, 2025.

The 29-year-old lawyer, model, and journalist was attacked in the Katampe area of Abuja, where a security guard, Barnabas Danlami, also lost his life.

According to the broadcast made by Arise News on Saturday, an evening of tributes will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the THISDAY Dome, Central Business District, Abuja. This will be followed by a service of songs on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Corpus Christi Cathedral, Kaduna Street, Port Harcourt.

Her interment in Anambra State is scheduled for Saturday, October 18, preceded by a funeral mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Agulu, as announced by Arise News.

Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 12 suspects linked to the journalist’s death.

Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh revealed that the gang obtained its weapons from a supplier based in the Niger Republic, including a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, pump-action gun, and pistol.

Adeh disclosed that all suspects are from Kaduna and Katsina States and confessed to sourcing arms from a yet-to-be-identified cross-border supplier.

She further explained that the Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, deployed a special investigation team led by DCP Aliyu Abubakar and assisted by ACP Victor Godfrey to track down and dismantle the criminal network responsible for the attack.
