Former secretary to state government dies
Alhaji Abdul Waheed Akintola Olajide, a former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, has died at the age of an undisclosed number.
Olajide died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, according to a statement released by his family on Wednesday.
The former government official served as Secretary to the Oyo State Government during the administration of the late former governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
His death has left family members, friends and associates mourning the loss of a man who served in a key position within the Oyo State Government.
In a statement announcing his death, the family described Olajide as a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and cousin.
The family said he had returned to his Creator after a life they described as well lived.
The family also asked for prayers and support as they come to terms with his death.
They expressed their belief in the will of Almighty Allah and prayed for strength and comfort for those affected by the loss.
Olajide’s Janazah prayer is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, August 26, at 11:00 am.
The prayer will be held at the MAN Centre in Oke Ado, Ibadan, Oyo State, where family members, friends, associates and other mourners are expected to gather to pay their final respects.
His death comes years after he served in the Oyo State Government under Ajimobi, whose administration governed the state from 2011 to 2019.
