The 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has urged members of his support group, Rise Up Naija Movement, to transform online enthusiasm into real votes at the polls.
Atiku gave the charge on Monday, 3rd August, 2026 during a strategic meeting with state coordinators of the movement held to review mobilization strategies ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In attendance were chieftains of the ADC and coordinators drawn from across the country. The meeting focused on grassroots structures, voter education, and defending votes during the elections.
Addressing the coordinators, Salihu Yakasai, the Chairman of the Coordinating Council for Rise Up Naija Movement said:
“As state coordinators and as leaders in our respective community, we must become ambassadors of this mission, we must build trust, strengthen structures in our community, recruit credible Nigerians into the African Democratic Party (ADC) and portray through our conduct the values of what we preach”.
The former ADC National Chairman, Chief Ralph Nwosu, also addressed the meeting. He emphasized the importance of credible leadership in attracting support both locally and in the diaspora.
“When you have the right person in charge, helpers will come from everywhere. Do we have them in Nigeria or in diaspora? We have them so many”.
The Rise Up Naija Movement is largely youth-driven and has been leveraging both online and offline platforms to mobilize support for the ADC and Atiku’s presidential ambition.
Speaking to the gathering, Atiku Abubakar charged Nigerian youths to take a leading role in shaping the nation’s political future.
He urged them to influence conversations, share informed opinions, hold government accountable, and prove that Nigerian youth can organize, innovate, and inspire.
He further stressed that online support must be converted into votes on election day.
Atiku is positioning himself to challenge incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
He directed coordinators of the movement to mobilize eligible voters across all states, ensure massive turnout, and be prepared to defend their votes.
