A fire outbreak occurred on Thursday at a multi-storey building housing a branch of Polaris Bank on Broad Street, Lagos Island, Lagos State.

Videos circulating on social media showed thick smoke billowing from the building as residents, traders and business operators gathered around the scene.

Emergency responders, including firefighters, were deployed to the area and were seen battling the blaze while working to prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire had not been determined.

Authorities were yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while emergency management agencies had not provided details on the extent of the damage.

No casualties had been confirmed at the time of this report.

The incident caused concern among business owners and residents in the area, as emergency personnel continued efforts to bring the situation under control.
