Popular social media activist, Martin Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, on Tuesday led a protest in Ibadan, Oyo State, over the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.
The demonstration attracted a large number of residents who joined the activist in calling for urgent government action to secure the release of those still being held captive.
The protesters marched through major roads in Ibadan before converging at the Oyo State Government House, where they demanded stronger efforts to rescue the victims.
Participants carried placards and chanted solidarity songs, urging authorities to place greater priority on the safety and security of citizens.
The protest was organised amid growing concerns over the fate of the abducted pupils and teachers, whose captivity has continued to generate anxiety among families, residents and stakeholders across the state.
Addressing the crowd, VeryDarkMan expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of rescue operations and called on both the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government to intensify efforts to secure the victims’ freedom.
He questioned the effectiveness of existing security measures and urged authorities to deploy all available resources to ensure the safe return of the abducted pupils and teachers.
The protest drew significant public attention as demonstrators insisted that protecting lives and ensuring the safety of schoolchildren should remain a top priority for government at all levels.
