ADC Reveals What Obi, Atiku, Amaechi Are Doing To Defeat Tinubu

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said that its leading presidential hopefuls; Peter Obi, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers State governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi are working together to stop President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from returning to power in the 2027 general election.

The announcement followed the unveiling of a political initiative known as 1ADC.

The movement is designed to unite members and supporters of the party across different age groups, backgrounds and political interests.

It is also meant to prepare the party for a strong challenge against the ruling party in the next presidential race.

During the unveiling of the initiative in Abuja, the National Coordinator of the movement, Lauretta Onochie, explained that the platform would help supporters of Obi, Atiku and Amaechi operate together as one team ahead of the election.

She said the idea behind the initiative is to show that political actors with different interests can work together under one structure.

Onochie explained that the party wants to build unity among its members and reach more Nigerians across the country.

According to her, the movement is expected to bring party supporters closer and also encourage cooperation after internal party contests.

She admitted that disagreements are common in political organisations but said members must place the overall aim of the party above personal ambitions.

She added that once party primaries are concluded, members will come together again and work as a united group while avoiding actions that could weaken the party.

The coordinator also said the initiative will focus on reaching people at the grassroots, including young people and those in rural communities.

She added that the movement wants the party to grow as a disciplined and organised political platform that can attract more Nigerians.

A former National Chairman of the party, Ralphs Nwosu, also spoke about the purpose of the coalition plan. He said the adoption of the ADC as a platform for cooperation among opposition figures is meant to give citizens a chance to take part in shaping the country’s political future.

Nwosu said the party leadership decided to open its structure to wider participation by Nigerians rather than leaving it only in the hands of political leaders. He added that the party believes citizens should play a stronger role in the process of building the organisation.

He also warned that Nigerians must remain active in political activities to prevent the country from facing deeper challenges after the 2027 elections.

Nwosu described the party’s National Chairman, David Mark, as an experienced leader who would stand firm in the face of political pressure.

He also spoke about the party’s ongoing digital membership registration, saying the exercise has attracted interest from many Nigerians.

According to him, the online registration system has already recorded millions of new members within a few months.
