The United States Department of State has announced a $10 million reward for information about Mojtaba Khamenei and several other senior Iranian officials.

The offer was made on Friday under the State Department’s Rewards for Justice initiative, which provides financial incentives for intelligence leading to the capture or prosecution of individuals accused of terrorism-related activities.

Among the officials named on the list are Eskandar Momeni and Esmail Khatib. In total, the US government identified ten individuals it said were connected to operations carried out by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

“These individuals command and direct various elements of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which plans, organises and executes terrorism around the world,” the State Department said in its statement.

Authorities also encouraged individuals with relevant information to submit tips through secure communication channels such as Tor or Signal.

According to the department, individuals who provide useful intelligence may qualify not only for the financial reward but also for relocation assistance.

“Your information could make you eligible for relocation and a reward,” the statement added.

The announcement comes amid the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

Mojtaba Khamenei assumed Iran’s highest leadership position after his father, Ali Khamenei, was killed in a bombing on February 28 at the beginning of the US-Israeli military campaign against Iran.

What you should know

The Rewards for Justice is a long-running initiative operated by the US State Department that offers financial rewards for information on individuals linked to terrorism or threats to US national security.

Since its establishment in 1984, the programme has paid out millions of dollars to informants worldwide whose tips helped prevent attacks or led to the capture of wanted suspects.
