Troops of the Nigerian Army operating under the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled a terrorist attack on a military position in Ngoshe, restoring full control of the area after a swift counter-offensive.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by Sani Uba at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI on March 11, 2026.

According to the statement, the terrorists launched the attack on the military position on March 3 in Gwoza, a region within the insurgency-prone areas of Borno State.
The military said reinforcement teams were immediately deployed to the area from the Forward Operating Base in Pulka and the 151 Battalion to support troops already stationed at the location.
“During the reinforcement operation, the leading Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle encountered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which damaged two tyres. Undeterred, troops continued the advance to the location,” the statement said.
It added that a special reinforcement team led by the Commander of the 26 Task Force Brigade in Gwoza, Nasirudeen Abdullahi, later arrived at the scene.
The commander coordinated a counter-attack under Sector 1 of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, forcing the terrorists to withdraw from the military position.
During the firefight and the pursuit of the fleeing insurgents, the troops recovered three AK-47 rifles and a General Purpose Machine Gun barrel.
The statement also noted that the Air Component of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI provided aerial support during the operation, neutralising several terrorists.

Following the successful reoccupation of the location and clearance operations in the surrounding area, Brigadier General Abdullahi addressed the troops, commending their bravery and determination during the engagement.
He encouraged them to maintain aggressive operations aimed at further weakening terrorist elements operating within the region.
Military authorities reaffirmed that troops of Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI remain determined to deny insurgents freedom of movement and will continue sustained operations to restore lasting peace, security, and economic stability across the North East.
The statement added that troop morale remains high while ongoing operations continue in the theatre.
