Arsenal increased their lead at the top of the Premier League to seven points after being held to a goalless draw by a disciplined Nottingham Forest side at the City Ground on Saturday.
The Gunners had the opportunity to move nine points clear earlier in the day after Manchester City suffered a 2-0 defeat to rivals Manchester United, but they were unable to capitalise against stubborn opposition.

A subdued first-half display proved costly, as Forest defended resolutely to strengthen their fight against relegation.
Despite the dropped points, Mikel Arteta’s side remain firmly placed in the title race and continue to look well-positioned to end a 22-year wait for the Premier League crown.
Forest manager Sean Dyche, who had criticised his players following their FA Cup exit to Wrexham, got the reaction he demanded as his team showed grit and organisation to move five points above the relegation zone.

Manchester City’s four-match winless run in the league since the start of the year has eased pressure on Arsenal, but consecutive scoreless draws against Liverpool and Forest have limited the leaders’ ability to pull further away. Meanwhile, Aston Villa, sitting third, could cut the gap to four points if they overcome Everton on Sunday.
Arsenal struggled to create chances early on and failed to register a shot on target before the break. The contest shifted after Arteta turned to his bench, introducing Leandro Trossard at half-time, followed by Bukayo Saka, Mikel Merino and Gabriel Jesus before the hour.

Saka came closest to breaking the deadlock, only to see his looping header from Declan Rice’s cross superbly tipped away by goalkeeper Matz Sels. Merino also missed a promising chance, failing to direct Rice’s free-kick on target.
In the end, Arsenal leaned on their defensive solidity to secure another point, recording an 11th clean sheet from 22 league matches and maintaining their advantage at the summit.
What you should know
Arsenal’s draw at Nottingham Forest highlighted both their strength and limitations in the title race.
While their defence continues to provide consistency, attacking efficiency has dipped in recent matches, resulting in back-to-back goalless draws. Even so, Manchester City’s struggles and dropped points from rivals mean Arsenal remain in control of their destiny.
Forest, on the other hand, gained a crucial point that could prove decisive in their survival battle, underlining the importance of defensive discipline at this stage of the season.
