House of Representatives Urges Public to Rely on Verified Information Amid Binance Bribery Allegation

The Nigerian House of Representatives has advised the public to rely on verified facts regarding the alleged $150 million bribery claim involving three of its members—Ginger Onwusibe, Philip Agbese, and Peter Akpanke. Binance’s head of financial compliance, Tigran Gambaryan, had accused the lawmakers of demanding a bribe to prevent his arrest over financial crimes.

In response, both Agbese and Onwusibe have denied the allegations, vowing to clear their names through legal means. The House, in an official statement by its spokesman, Akin Rotimi, dismissed the claims as “recycled allegations” meant to discredit Nigerian institutions and officials.

The statement reaffirmed the House’s commitment to transparency and due process, emphasizing that the allegations target individual lawmakers rather than the legislative institution. It also noted that the matter has escalated into a diplomatic engagement between Nigeria and the United States, with the Nigerian government rejecting financial settlement offers from Binance.

With the issue now before a court, the House stated that it would refrain from further comments in adherence to parliamentary and judicial principles.
