Summary

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has cautioned members of the public to ignore a circulating online recruitment notice that falsely claims the agency is hiring Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel.

In an official announcement released on Thursday and endorsed by Henry Agbebire, Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, FAAN explained that the misleading advert is being shared widely across digital platforms and is linked to a questionable website fraudulently associated with the authority.

According to the statement, there is currently no AVSEC recruitment exercise in progress, and Nigerians are urged to avoid clicking the viral link or submitting private details to unfamiliar online sources. The agency stressed that the post did not originate from any FAAN-approved outlet and should be dismissed entirely.

FAAN further encouraged citizens to remain cautious, noting that fraudulent job announcements continue to target unsuspecting individuals. It advised the public to immediately report dubious websites, suspicious messages, or any form of recruitment content not issued through its official channels.

“The attention of the @FAAN_Official has been drawn to a recruitment advertisement circulating online, claiming that Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel are being recruited through a link purportedly associated with FAAN.

“We wish to categorically state that FAAN is not conducting any AVSEC recruitment at this time. The advertisement in circulation, including the link attached to it, is fake, misleading, and has no connection whatsoever with FAAN,” the statement read in part.

The authority emphasized that all legitimate information regarding job opportunities or agency-related updates will always be shared through FAAN’s verified communication platforms, urging the public to rely solely on such trusted sources.

What You Should Know

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has debunked an online job advert claiming that AVSEC recruitment is ongoing.

FAAN clarified that the advertisement is fraudulent, warns Nigerians not to engage with the circulating link, and encourages the public to verify all information through its authenticated channels to avoid falling victim to scams.
