Sanwo-Olu Constructs 1,000-Bed Mental Health Institute in Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is leading the construction of the Lagos State Mental Health Institute, Psychiatric and Rehabilitation Centre in Ketu Ejirin, Epe Local Government Area.

Spanning 25 hectares, the state-of-the-art facility will feature 1,000 beds and serve as a dedicated rehabilitation centre for individuals with mental health conditions.

The institute is designed to provide comprehensive care, including recreational and vocational programmes to support patients’ recovery and reintegration into society.

The development was announced by the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor, Jubril Gawat, in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.

According to Gawat, the centre will function as a full-scale rehabilitation home equipped with facilities aimed at ensuring the complete well-being of individuals with psychiatric conditions.
