Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas has strongly opposed US President Donald Trump’s proposal to “take over” and “own” the Gaza Strip.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Abbas and the Palestinian leadership expressed their firm rejection of any plans to seize Gaza or displace Palestinians from their homeland, emphasizing that their legitimate rights are non-negotiable.
Reading the statement on Palestinian public television, Abbas’s spokesperson, Nabil Abu Rudeina, reiterated that Gaza remains an integral part of the State of Palestine.
The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), led by Abbas, also condemned Trump’s reported proposal to relocate Gazans to Egypt or Jordan.
PLO Secretary General Hussein al-Sheikh reaffirmed the organization’s stance, rejecting any attempts to displace Palestinians from their homeland.
