President Bola Tinubu on Sunday met behind closed doors with Rivers State Governor, Sir Sim Fubara, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Fubara, dressed in a white caftan and black cap, arrived around 6:20 p.m. for what is his first engagement with the President since his six-month suspension and the lifting of emergency rule in Rivers State on September 18, 2025.
Tinubu had in a March 18 nationwide broadcast declared a state of emergency in the state, suspended democratic institutions, and appointed a sole administrator to manage its affairs.
The agenda of Sunday’s meeting was not disclosed as of press time. However, Fubara’s visit came shortly after Tinubu held separate consultations with the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq; Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass; FIRS Chairman, Zacch Adedeji; and Finance Minister Wale Edun, among others.
