Celebrity Crime Wave: Brad Pitt’s Los Angeles Home Targeted in Latest High-Profile Burglary

Academy Award-winning actor Brad Pitt became the latest victim in a troubling pattern of celebrity home invasions when burglars broke into his Los Feliz residence on Thursday evening, police confirmed on Friday.

The break-in occurred around 10:30 p.m. local time while the 61-year-old star was overseas promoting his upcoming racing drama “F1,” according to law enforcement sources and multiple media reports. Three suspects reportedly scaled the front fence of the property before smashing through a front window to gain entry.

Los Angeles Police Department officials have confirmed a residential burglary took place in the affluent Los Feliz neighborhood but declined to officially identify the homeowner, following standard protocol for ongoing investigations. However, police sources speaking to NBC News and the Los Angeles Times identified the property as belonging to Pitt.

The perpetrators conducted what investigators describe as a thorough ransacking of the residence before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of stolen goods. Authorities have not released details about the specific items taken or their estimated value, citing the active nature of the investigation.

Pitt’s absence from Los Angeles likely made his home an attractive target. The “Fight Club” star has been maintaining a high-profile international presence this week, attending the London premiere of “F1” as part of a global promotional campaign for the Apple Studios production.

The targeted property represents a significant investment for the actor, who purchased the Los Feliz home in 2023 for $5.5 million, according to entertainment industry publication Variety. The neighborhood has long been favored by entertainment industry figures for its relative privacy and proximity to major studios.

This incident adds Pitt’s name to a growing list of celebrities whose Los Angeles-area homes have been burglarized in recent months, suggesting a coordinated effort by criminal organizations to target high-profile residences. In February alone, French soccer star Olivier Giroud of Los Angeles FC reportedly lost approximately $500,000 worth of jewelry in a similar break-in, while the home of actress Nicole Kidman and country music star Keith Urban was also burglarized.

The pattern has raised concerns among security experts about whether organized crime rings are specifically targeting celebrity properties, potentially using social media and public appearance schedules to identify when homes are likely to be unoccupied.

LAPD’s robbery-homicide division typically handles high-profile cases involving celebrity victims, though officials have not confirmed which unit is leading the Pitt investigation. The department has faced mounting pressure to address what appears to be a coordinated campaign against entertainment industry figures.

The investigation remains active, with no arrests reported at this time. Police are likely reviewing security footage from the property and the surrounding area as part of their efforts to identify the suspects.

For Pitt, the violation of his private residence comes at a time when he should be celebrating professional success, with “F1” generating significant industry buzz ahead of its theatrical release. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the security challenges facing high-profile celebrities in Los Angeles, where the intersection of wealth, fame, and predictable travel schedules creates attractive opportunities for criminal enterprises.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Brad Pitt’s Los Angeles home was burglarized Thursday night by three suspects who broke in while the actor was overseas promoting his new film. This marks the latest in a concerning trend of celebrity home invasions in Los Angeles, with similar break-ins targeting Olivier Giroud’s and Nicole Kidman’s residences earlier this year.

The pattern suggests organized criminal groups are deliberately targeting high-profile celebrities by monitoring their public schedules to identify when properties are unoccupied, raising serious security concerns for entertainment industry figures in the area.
